RADICAL CRUISE SHIP DESIGNS, LLP

December 19, 2006

Tom McAlpin, President

Disney Cruise Line

Celebration, Florida 34747

Dear Mr. McAlpin:

You’ve finally decided to add a third cruise ship to the Disney Cruise Line fleet!  We know that the returning cruisers of your Castaway Club will be lining up at travel agencies, bookmarking your reservation website, and setting your reservation phone line on speed dial to be the first to book on your new ship.  And we don’t want to disappoint them.  Our newly designed ship is exactly what they've been hoping for.

Having done our research, we know that your cruise audience is primarily families with young children.  We’re also aware that although these Castaway Club members return two, three, four times or more for a DCL cruise, many are growing tired of the same activities and entertainment in the same onboard locations and ports year after year as their children grow older.  And not every family can book a Mediterranean cruise in a three-month window in the summer of 2007.

We’re betting that you don’t want to lose Castaway Club members as families with young children grow to families with ‘tweens and teens.  So we have your solution!

On the following pages, you’ll find our designs and complete recommendations for the Disney Spirit.  While all of the expected offerings for families, couples, young and old alike remain, we’re focusing on activities for the 10-18 age group and their parents.  Some of the astounding onboard activities include a water park, a lazy river, a rock climbing wall, an aquarium and a planetarium.  Teens will also find not one, but two lounges designed just for them!  They'll also have specialized offerings at the newly-designed onboard spa!

Our focus groups have shown that although families with 'tweens and teens are eager to travel beyond the Caribbean, the majority of them are not ready for European or around-the-world adventures.  So, as the saying goes, we’re seeing America first.   The destination for the Disney Spirit is America’s fiftieth state and most exotic family vacation spot—Hawaii!  With proper planning and execution, the Spirit should be prepared for it’s maiden voyage in 2009 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood.

The Spirit will put into a greater variety of ports than any other Hawaiian cruise currently available. And each and every one of these ports offers sites and adventures that are one of a kind, world famous, unique or record-breaking in description!

Finally, you’ll notice that we haven’t taken your request for a “sister ship” to the Magic and Wonder literally.  Although sister ships are by definition nearly identical in their design, the Spirit is larger than her sisters, yet accommodates the same number of passengers to provide more luxury.  The additional space allows for larger staterooms, more dining options, more recreation, more entertainment and more activities.  The classic colors and two-stack silhouette of the Disney fleet do remain, however, to ensure that returning Castaway Club members feel at home and first-time cruisers feel confident that they’ll experience the same Disney magic for which the Magic and Wonder are famous.  Pictures in this proposal are not actual designs, but representations of what we anticipate building.

Enjoy your reading.  Let’s build a ship!
